FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q
Is the mere consultation with cost ?
RThe consultation fee is 150 euros TTC. Nevertheless, if on the basis of this consultation a file is opened by the law office and a fixed fee is agreed, the consultation will not be invoiced.
Q
Can an invoice be paid in several terms ?
RAn invoice of more than 1.000 euros may be paid in several terms, but – in litigation matters – the whole fees shall be paid before the pleadings.
Q
The fees may be known in advance?
RYes, when a fixed fee is agreed. Prior any intervention, a fee agreement is executed, which deals with the lawyer’s and the client’s respective obligations and the pricing conditions of our intervention. When practically the details of our intervention cannot be known in advance, an assessment is made so as to allow the client to have visibility, and the agreement of the client will be asked should the assessment need to be reviewed.
Q
Can a follow-up of the client’s matters be implemented?
RThe law office offers annual subscriptions or annual fees agreements, which allow to ensure a daily legal follow-up.
Q
Am I regularly informed of the proceeding status ?
RYes, after the hearings, the law office secretary will send you a report of the hearing. The law office shall also send you the briefs for your validation.
Q
Can you be my lawyer for a proceeding outside of Guadeloupe ?
RYes. Before some courts we shall use the service of a local attorney whose rates can vary. Nevertheless, if the local attorney is within LEGALIANS network this cost shall be reduced.
Q
Will you, in person, attend all the hearings ?
RGenerally speaking, either the lawyer to whom the file has been assigned, or another partner of the firm or an associate of the firm shall attend the hearing. Nevertheless, because of the hearings agenda which sometimes fixes several hearings the same day at the same hour, it can result practically impossible to ensure the whole hearings; in this hypothesis, the law office will request a colleague to attend the hearing, and no complementary fee shall be invoiced to the client.
Q
Should I make an appointment to meet a lawyer or to submit a document?
RAn appointment must be made to meet a lawyer. Nevertheless, if you only wish to submit a document, you can leave it to the secretary of the firm between 8am and 4pm or, when it is possible, send the document by e-mail : contact@inwest-avocats.com
Q
Should I attend the hearing ?
RIn most cases, as soon as you are represented by a lawyer, you do not need to attend the hearings, except in some cases where your presence might be required by the Court, in this hypothesis the law office will let you know.
